If the second card of the player is higher than the second card of the dealer, the player will win his/her original bet. There also exists a tie bet can be made by the player that pays 10:1. The house edge constitutes around 18% on that particular bet. As a player planning to go for a war against a dealer, he/she should do it if he/she decides to play the game. The edge of the casino will be 3.7%, if a player surrenders and only 2.9%, if he/she goes for a war.
